hand-rendered, mixed media fine artwork

For many years, we have admired the hand-rendered fine artwork of mixed media. This is the process of taking a digital image and painting every pixel to make it a hand-rendered work of art. This is achieved by using a tablet and art pen and various digital brushes. Vickie especially took an interest in it and began to search out classes and teachings on how to accomplish this intricate method, but didn't have much success in finding the right methods. In late summer of 2019, she finally found THE instructor for exactly what she had been dreaming of doing. And, in September of 2019, the instructor opened enrollment to her online perpetual course. Vickie was thrilled and immediately jumped into the enrollment process as soon as the portal opened and started on her journey. To say that she is enjoying it would be a tremendous understatement! It has become such a joy and pleasure and a place of peace and contentment in a very chaotic world. It has become somewhat of a refuge for her and now she is ready to reveal her accomplishments and integrate this new technique and offering into our Studio. We are thrilled to now offer one-of-a-kind fine artwork pieces to our clients.  What seemed like only a dream a few years ago, is now becoming reality!

recognition

Vickie is humbled and honored to have received the recognition of "exemplary representation of student artwork" for this painting. She completed this work in March/April 2020. It was featured on the social media pages for Elevate Your Art and in a weekly artwork newsletter.

This is what was written about the artwork: "This tender moment was captured by Beyond the Brushes member, Vickie Bolduc. Vickie joined back when enrollment first opened in September 2019 with no prior painting experience.

Desiring for years to create painted versions of her studio photographs, Vickie was actively searching and keeping an eye out for classes or techniques. Unable to find quite what she was looking for, it would have been easy for her to give up, but she held on to hope and is enthralled with the outcome. "Truthfully, I'm really glad I never found anything because Beyond the Brushes is exactly what I was searching for!"
While creating this portrait, Vickie had the pleasure (and challenge) of getting out of her head. Painting is definitely NOT like photography and breaks some of the rules cherished by professionals. But true to her inner artist, nothing could keep her away from achieving her goal, and she was able to enjoy the journey along the way.

Vickie credits the personalized critiques for bringing her portrait to the final product. "Michelle, you opened my eyes with your critiques as to how the piece could be improved and taken further. I was so excited to open up Loom and see that you had taken the time to give me instruction. I think that one of the best things about Beyond the Brushes is the personal investment you have in each one of us. Your sincerity for wanting each of us to succeed really comes through in each lesson and each critique. I am amazed at every step of this journey at the quality and content that you have poured into it."

Thank you, Vickie, for being so open to constructive criticism, willing to learn, and pushing yourself to excel. The teacher is only one half of the equation, and I could not do my job without amazing students like you. This portrait is stunning, and I hope the mother is as proud of it as I am and you should be."

recognition

Vickie is humbled and honored to have received the recognition of "exemplary representation of student artwork" for this painting. She completed this work in July 2020. It was featured on the social media pages for Elevate Your Art and in a weekly artwork newsletter. It is also seen in the "student gallery" of the Elevate Your Art website.

This is what was written about the artwork: "This satiating painting was created by Beyond the Brushes member, Vickie Bolduc. Vickie joined the community back in September 2019 with no previous painting experience. While creating this still life, Vickie indulged in solidifying a new technique in using wet paint control and the subject matter. Being from the South, Vickie has made many memories with family and friends while having conversations over a nice, cold glass of sweet tea (and many others share this experience). Nevertheless, there is also pain intertwined with these memories as some are no longer able to share one more glass of tea.

Vickie marveled at how much the simple things in life can truly bring us back and remind us of all the cherished memories. I think it is fair to say that the marveling goes both ways with the depth of emotion put into her remarkable painting.

When I asked Vickie about her experience with Beyond the Brushes, she responded... "Beyond the Brushes has brought more to me than just technique learning and skill developing. It's opened up my senses to new things...how I look at things, how I imagine everyday things painted and painterly, how I look at photographs and artwork a bit differently, how I look at light differently. It has truly helped me to develop as an "artist" in every form of life. I especially feel as if it has enhanced my photography skills with composition and lighting. Plus, it has given me a whole new set of friends and colleagues from around the world! What could be better than that?"

Thank you, Vickie, for sharing your thoughts and your artwork. I am thrilled to have you as a member of the community. Now, regardless of where we are, we can all share a glass of sweet tea and continue making memories together."
